My drama-filled relationship with food started when I was in elementary school, and it continued even throughout my years caring for people teeth as an endodontist. Like you, I made a lot of sacrifices to be where I am today. The stress of dental school was promptly replaced by the hustle of being an associate. Somewhere in the process of becoming a board-certified endodontist, owning my own practice, managing employees, and birthing two sons, I found it harder and harder to find the time to take care of myself. I was taking care of everyone else, and neglecting my own needs.
Food was the comfort I looked forward to at the end of a stressful day.
Then, I constantly felt that I needed to “work off” whatever excess food I was consuming by working out. It was a vicious cycle that didn’t have an end.
It wasn’t until I worked with a weight coach that my mindset towards diet and exercise completely changed. The mind drama I had around food stopped. I learned how to make great decisions to keep myself focused and motivated towards my goal. The weight finally came off and I was finally in control around food. I can help you get to that place too.
